Villa Femos is 15 minutes walk to the sea and the fashionable fishing village of St Stephano’s in the unspoiled North East area of Corfu. The North East is dotted with countless beautiful aquamarine bays and is home to some of the best Tavernas and cocktail bars in Corfu. Boat hire is recommended to explore the area and boats can be easily hired with no licence in St Stephano. Both north and south of the village there are wonderful bays only accessible by boat that offer warm calm seas to bathe in. A full guide of the area is available in the villa but below is a taste of what to expect…

Agni

Agni is famous for its three excellent Taverna’s:

Nikolas – traditional Greek food and pretty basic, run by a guy called Pericles who’s family have been in the Taverna since God was a boy.

Toula’s
Toula’s really is a gastonomic treat, the food is simply out of this world. All cooked by Toula who has won numerous international food awards for her perfect dishes all served right on the beach and the calm waters of Agni.

Taverna Agni
Is a fantastic place to take large family groups, welcoming and great fun it serves the best prawn saganaki in town. Run by a local family it is a treat to visit.

Kouloura

Kouloura Taverna
Is lovely behind a tiny harbour and part of an old monastry on the sea which is owned by the Agnelli family. I think it only takes cash but its fried courgette are delicious and it is a beautiful setting.

St Stephano

Gallini’s Taverna
It’s our favourite in St Stephanos not just for the food which is great but because Niko who runs it is a totally brilliant eccentric anglophile and is so friendly. Gallini’s is situated right on the sea in the centre of the village and the atmoshere is always very jovial and welcoming, you are guaranteed not just a great meal but a lot of fun.

Damianos Bar
The best of the two bars in St Stephanos, Daminanos is a giant of a Greek man and super friendly, he mixes a mean cocktail. Behind the bar are genuinely some of the best cocktail makers we have come across and would give a smart London bar a run for their money. Outside are large comfortable chairs looking over the water and inside is a cool chilled live DJ and pool table.

Avalaki Beach
Cava Barbaro is the best Taverna by far here, under the shade of a huge tree, it is good friendly service, not too expensive and friendly.

Kassioppi
Taverna Tavernaki is the most popular taverna in town again on the quay side with views over the harbour which in turn is dominated but an ancient Venetian fort.

Agni

With three wonderful tavernas and fabulous swimming, you can choose the food for your mood, a favourite of ours is Toula’s but Agni is a close second!

Glyfa Beach
Taverna Glyfa – is a favourite run by a young guy called Yanni it is perched just above a small beach with limited tables but so friendly and have lots of fresh fish and lobster. Visit Website

All the Taverna’s are accessed by the sea so a boat is the best way to travel and allows you after lunch to chill out in one of the bays nearby.

Kalami
The White House where Lawrence Durrell lived is both cool and chic with fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Surrounded by large terraces with lounger to relax on after a good meal and bathing rom the rocks it is the perfect place to spend time with friends and family.
